<p>About a year after launching <q>Magnetic Resonance</q> it seems appropriate to publish a few editorial remarks about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Open Access, motivated by an analysis of the Ethics Committee of the French CNRS and by a debate organized by the Royal Dutch Academy of Science.</p>
